Decklists Groningen 31/07/2009

Heya, I've updated my blog again! It took me a while to retrieve the standings, and after that I was very busy, so I'm unusually late with the update. Still, some interesting decks. MBC gets updated with Sign in Blood and wins again, Thopter Foundry, Taïga, and Arcane Tide are in the t8 again. Oh, and there's a first take on M2010 soldiers.

décidément MBC s'impose de plus en plus, je commence à me demander si ce n'est pas un des meilleurs jeux du format

Bannissons les tournois, ça évitera de bannir Storm :P

MBC shines in an aggro meta. Nice work, solid list.

Love the "I don't have FoW, so let's play Countertop in Faeries" : very well thinked, faeries offer a wide span of converted cost to work with counterbalance.

How explosive is the affinity deck ?

Nice soldier deck but I have one question : why does he play Harm's way instead of Prismatic strands main deck ?

Nice list for MBC.

@Légende: Thanks, I hate the sideboard though. I had the main complete, and was in a rush, so I just grabbed the first 15 decent cards I could find. Also, The Countertop version is weaker vs MBC than the FoW version, but stronger against decks with a low mana curve. I beat Taïga handily for example.

@knightseb: Good question. I think Harm's Way does a better job of protection your creatures without hindering the development of your board position, since it costs only 1 mana. According to Erik-Sander Harm's Way was better for him than Swords to Plowshares and Path to Exile have ever been.

@Légende: The affinity deck is pretty fast. Not as explosive as the traditional builds, but the Thopter Foundry makes single-handedly skews the MBC matchup in favor of the Affinity player. Not only is his targeted removal (especially the Tendrils) foiled by the Foundry, but the Affinity player also gets 1 life and a 1/1 flyer out of the deal. Stuff like Innocent Blood also isn't nearly as effective as normal. Basically the MBC player needs to draw multiple Crypt Rats to win this matchup.

Watch out for Ancient Grudge and Red Elemental Blast however, those can really wreck your gameplan.

Well, the soldier list was made when I was in the subway (Place to get food, not the train) around 1 hour before the tournament.
I was thinking of playing Blightning, but just didn't like my list.

I didn't have any swords to plowshares or path to exile with me at that time, so I had to do it with the cards I had in my binder and decks that I had with me (Cat Equipment and M10 soldiers (No lorwyn. etc). That's why the sideboard is so weird, the scouts were cheap deals at local dealershop :D

While playing the tournament I noticed how good Harm's Way actually is and in a deck like this, you probably rather play Harm's Way then Path to Exile or StP. It does the same job in this format. Most creatures are small.
